It continues to rain - everyday, but we don't really feel like doing anything anyhow. As many of you know, our beautiful Golden, Ms. Maggie Mae passed away on Monday morning, August 5th. She came into our life in August, 2006 as a 2-year old foster dog. She was in a pound in a small town and was to be euthanized the day she was "sprung." She was very sick with heartworms, tape worms, ear infections, etc. She was only supposed to stay with us long enough to get healthy and go onto the GRRMF adoption site. Well, that didn't happen. She was a special girl that found her way into our hearts. She was such a sweetheart and everybody that met her loved her. She had developed a chronic liver disease in her later years that finally took its toll on her and she had started to experience some side effects from her medications and lose a lot of weight. This past weekend she refused to eat and became so weak. Monday morning, she finally gave up and joined some of her friends at the Rainbow Bridge. Here are some pictures from her years with us. I am thinking about also making a separate blog of pictures just of her and will let you know when it is available.
She loved running thru the snow and wildflower fields in Colorado. Sometimes she was able to do both on the same day. As much as we miss her, I am sure she is running like the wind with no pain. As one of my friends said to me, " If someone tells you, you can't die of a broken heart I would say yea you can. A home turns back to a house without a dog."
