Finally - a clear, sunny day. Sundays on the trails can be crowded so we decided to check out some side-roads off Gladstone. They are not in any trail books, not marked, and have no names. We discovered them a couple years ago when Jane suggested "seeing what was us there," thus the name "Jane's Delight." On the way we ran into Linda & Xena on their daily long walk. She had seen a mama moose nursing a baby - we weren't as lucky. Rarely do we encounter others on these trails. Today, we ran into some locals gathering mushrooms for dinner. Sure hope they know what they are doing.
That's the town of Silverton at the base of the mountain:
An old compressor in front of an abandoned mine:
Don't eat the pretty ones!
